Deleting your data
Last updated: 2026-10-02
This page explains which data Shopyai receives when you connect Facebook or Instagram with Shopyai, and how to have it deleted. It covers every connection: signing in to Shopyai via Facebook, connecting a Facebook Page for automatic posts, and connecting an Instagram account (via your Facebook Page or by signing in directly with Instagram).
Which data we receive from Facebook and Instagram
- Sign-in via Facebook (“Continue with Facebook”): the name, e-mail address and Facebook user ID of your Facebook account (profile picture where applicable), used to create and sign in to your Shopyai account.
- Connecting a Facebook Page (Dashboard → Social Marketing → Auto-Post): the name and ID of the Facebook Pages you grant access to when connecting, plus one Page access token per Page, which Shopyai uses to publish posts on your behalf. We store the tokens encrypted. Your personal Facebook profile and your user token are not stored.
- Connecting an Instagram account via Facebook (“Connect with Instagram”): the ID and username of the Instagram Business or Creator accounts linked to the Facebook Pages you grant access to, plus the access token of the respective Facebook Page, with which Shopyai publishes posts on your behalf (stored encrypted).
- Direct Instagram sign-in (without Facebook): the Instagram account ID, username and an access token of your Instagram Business or Creator account, with which Shopyai publishes posts on your behalf (stored encrypted; the token is valid for 60 days and is renewed automatically before it expires). If you remove Shopyai in your Instagram settings (Apps and websites), the token is invalidated with us immediately; a deletion request via Instagram deletes the account ID, username, token and the post history of that account.
- Published posts: for every post Shopyai publishes on your Facebook Page or Instagram account, we store its reference (product, page or topic) and the post ID assigned by Facebook or Instagram — and, if you approve posts before publishing or send them from the workbench, also the post text and, where applicable, the image address (history in the dashboard).
How to disconnect Facebook or Instagram yourself
- Sign in to Shopyai and open the “Social Marketing” section in the dashboard, tab “Auto-Post”.
- Click the trash icon (“Remove”) next to the connected Facebook Page or Instagram account. Its ID, name, access token and post history are deleted from our database immediately; backup copies are overwritten after 7 days at the latest. A technical log entry about the disconnection (time, IP address) is kept for up to 90 days for security reasons. Post drafts you created yourself in the workbench remain until you delete them.
- In addition, you can remove Shopyai in your Facebook settings: Facebook → Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites → entry “shopyai” → Remove (sign-in and Page connection may appear there as two entries). For a direct Instagram sign-in: Instagram → Settings → Website permissions → Apps and websites → entry “shopyai” → Remove. This invalidates the access tokens of that entry on Facebook’s or Instagram’s side; the data stored with us is deleted via step 2 or on request (below).
If the section is locked in your dashboard (e.g. because your plan has expired), use the e-mail route below.
Deletion of all data (account deletion)
If you want your entire Shopyai account, including all data received from Facebook, to be deleted — or if you no longer have access to the dashboard — send us an e-mail with the subject “Data deletion”.
E-mail: Contact page
Write from the e-mail address of your Shopyai account, or tell us your Facebook name and the connected Facebook Page or Instagram account so that we can identify you.
We will confirm receipt and delete your personal data within 30 days, unless statutory retention obligations (e.g. for invoices under § 132 BAO) prevent this.
Further information on the processing of your data can be found in our Privacy Policy.
