AEO explained: answering customer questions
AEO means Answer Engine Optimization: answering specific customer questions briefly and clearly. That helps people make decisions. On supported websites, Shopyai can draft FAQs and detect published questions for structured data.
Published by ShopyaiUpdated on
- Answers from your own content
- Detect FAQs or create them as a draft
- Own questions and answers per language
Put it into practice with Shopyai
1.Collect questions
What do customers ask before contacting you? Answer those questions on your website. Generate FAQ Section can prepare a draft for supported HTML websites.
2.Publish the answers
Check claims, prices and conditions in the editor. Publish the FAQ only when its answers reflect your actual services.
3.Detect visible FAQs
Detect FAQs reads the published homepage in the selected language. Review the detected content, then enable the matching FAQ schema.
Keywords are turning into questions
Whoever asks a search engine, an AI assistant or their phone expects an answer – not a list of links. AEO prepares your content so that it can give that answer.
Keyword
bathroom renovation vienna
Short and vague – the search engine has to guess what is meant.
Full question
“How much does a bathroom renovation in Vienna cost?”
Specific and with intent – whoever asks like this wants a clear answer.
Spoken question
“Who can renovate my bathroom in Vienna, and how long will it take?”
When people speak, their questions often get even longer and more natural.
What gets picked are mainly short, clear answers placed right below the matching question. That is how your pages should be built.
How a good answer is built
Four parts, in this order. That way readers, search engines and AI assistants quickly find what they are looking for.
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
A complete bathroom renovation usually takes two to three weeks. The exact time depends on size, pipes and tiles – after the site visit we give you a fixed schedule.
- 1.Site visit and quote: a few days
- 2.Demolition and pipes: about a week
- 3.Tiles, fitting, handover: one to two weeks

1. The question as a heading
In your customers’ words – the way it is actually asked.
2. Direct answer first
One or two sentences that fully answer the question – as a guideline about 40 to 60 words.
3. Details after that
Steps, a list or a table for anyone who wants to know more.
4. Next step
A link to the service or to contact – so the answer turns into an enquiry.
Your industry. An everyday example.
Customers often have a simple question. A short, useful answer reduces follow-up questions and makes the next step easier.
Lawyers & law firms
“What should I bring to my first consultation?”
One possible answer
“Send us a brief description of your enquiry beforehand. We will tell you which documents we need for the appointment.”
Hair & beauty
“Do I need a consultation before changing my hair colour?”
One possible answer
“At our salon, a major colour change starts with a consultation. We discuss your preferred look, the work involved and the price.”
Retail & shops
“Can I collect my order in store?”
One possible answer
“Yes. Choose collection when you order. We will send you a message when your items are ready.”
Fictional examples for illustration, not actual search data or AI recommendations. Describe the services and processes you actually offer.
How Shopyai helps you
From collecting questions to a machine-readable answer – every decision stays with you.
1. Find the questions
Which questions do your customers really ask – on the phone, by email, in search?
What Shopyai handles
Search Console shows the real search terms people find you with – including clicks and position. Keyword research adds terms with estimated search volume.
2. Write the answers
Short, clear and based on your own facts.
What Shopyai handles
No FAQ on the page yet? “Generate FAQ section” creates a draft with questions and answers from the content of your start page – for every language version, in your page’s design. You review and publish it yourself.
3. Mark up
So machines can match question and answer without doubt.
What Shopyai handles
“Detect FAQs” finds the questions and answers on your start page. You choose, and your website serves them as structured data (FAQPage) – per language. Only real questions with an answer that are on your page are used.
4. Keep it current
Answers have to match the page – also after changes.
What Shopyai handles
If the published page changes, the markup pauses automatically until you confirm again. The structured-data check shows what is active.
The FAQ features apply to imported websites on your own domain – not to online shops or pages made with the page builder.
What it looks like in the dashboard
Detect, choose, activate – separately for each language.
FAQ schema (AI visibility)
- How long does a bathroom renovation take?
- How much does a bathroom renovation in Vienna cost?
- Can I use the bathroom during the work?
Which answer fits which question?
Not every question calls for a paragraph. The form of the answer follows the kind of question.
“How much does … cost?”
Price range with examples
A range instead of a fixed price – and what the price depends on.
“How does … work?”
Numbered steps
From the enquiry to completion, each step in one sentence.
“What is the difference between … and …?”
Comparison
A small table or two short paragraphs side by side.
“Do I need …?”
Yes or no – with the reason
First the clear answer, then the exception.
Your question map: before, during and after the job
Customers don’t only ask before they buy. Answering all three phases covers more searches and means explaining the same thing on the phone less often.
1. Before: deciding
- How much does a bathroom renovation in Vienna cost?
- How long does a bathroom renovation take?
2. During: preparing
- Can I use the bathroom during the work?
- What do I need to clear out beforehand?
3. After: staying in touch
- How do I look after the new grout?
- What should I do about a water stain?
Answers exist only in the languages your page speaks
Search engines and assistants answer in the language of the question – mostly from pages in exactly that language. With Shopyai, every language version of your website gets its own questions and answers, and the markup never mixes languages.
- Question in German – answer available
- Spoken question in Persian – answer available
- Question in Turkish – no page in this language

Frequently asked questions about AEO
What is the difference between SEO and AEO?
SEO makes sure your page appears in the results. AEO makes sure your content answers a specific question directly – in search, in AI assistants and for spoken questions. The two build on each other.
Does the AI invent answers for my FAQ?
No. “Detect FAQs” only takes questions and answers that are on your page as they are. When an FAQ section is created, the AI is instructed to use only facts from your content – you review and publish the draft yourself.
Will this get me an answer box on Google?
No one can promise that – Google decides itself which answer is shown. Clear answers and clean markup create the conditions.
How many questions should a page answer?
Better a few good ones than many thin ones. Start with the five to eight questions you hear most often and keep adding.
Does this work in Persian or Pashto too?
Yes. Every language version of your website gets its own questions and answers, and question marks in Arabic script (؟) are recognised.
